Why choose Direct Access Vasectomy
No referral required
You can book online directly via HotDoc without needing a GP referral first.
No-scalpel technique
A small 5-8mm opening, no stitches, and a straightforward recovery for most men.
20-30 minute procedure
The vasectomy itself takes around 20-30 minutes under local anaesthetic. Most patients are at the clinic for about 45 minutes in total.
Back to work quickly
Most men with desk jobs return to work within 1-2 days. Physical jobs typically need a week off.

Direct Access Vasectomy
Getting here from Thornbury
Thornbury sits directly south of Preston, making the clinic one of the closest vasectomy options available to Thornbury residents. High Street runs between both suburbs and connects directly to the clinic precinct. Street parking is available on Plenty Road and surrounding streets.
You cannot drive yourself home after the procedure - please arrange a lift before your appointment.
What the procedure involves
The no-scalpel, open-ended vasectomy at Direct Access Vasectomy works like this:
Nothing about your sex life changes. Testosterone, sex drive, erections, sensation and ejaculation are completely unaffected. Sperm makes up less than 3% of semen volume.
The 3-month follow-up
Vasectomy does not take effect immediately. You will need around 15-20 ejaculations over 3 months to clear residual sperm from the tubes. At the 3-month mark, Dr Simon requires a semen analysis to confirm the result before unprotected sex is safe. The follow-up test at 4cyte Pathology in Kew is bulk-billed.
Backup contraception is essential until the test confirms zero active sperm.
